Karen Owens Rice ’76
Karen Owens Rice graduated Melrose High School in ’76 with the famous singer Melvia ‘Chick’ Rodgers-Williams and Kirk Whalum, Grammy-award winning saxophonist and music educator.
She moved to Atlanta with the rise of Hotlanta’s reputation in May 1989 establishing her professional imprint as a guru in Insurance IT for 30+ years.
Karen has one son, Marcus; and she is currently married to another Melrose Alumni, Master Sargent James E. Rice.
Karen is a Board member for Crime Victims Advocacy Council(CVAC) in the metro Atlanta area, a member of the Simply Praise Team and President of the Gospel Choir at New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She also holds active office as Melrose Alumni Atlanta Chapter Secretary.
